Arsenal boss Unai Emery reveals how many signings he’s working on

John Stones

Eddie Nketiah continued his fine pre-season form with two goals as Arsenal produced a 3-0 victory over Fiorentina in the International Champions Cup in Charlotte on Saturday.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery said he is happy to be patient in the transfer market and will wait for the right player to become available.

"We have examples with some players who are loaned away and didn't play as much as we want".

While the departure of Tierney will be a major loss for Celtic, Arsenal will sign a very promising young player if they are able to land the Scotland global left-back.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery said he wants to sign "three or four players" ahead of the 2019-20 Premier League season.

It has widely been reported that the Gunners only have a limited transfer budget of around £40 million, as well as whatever they can raise from player sales, although to date, the only departures are those who left on a free at the end of last season.

"I spoke with the club and with him because he started with a doubt on whether it was better for him here with us or for him to go to play on another team with more minutes", Emery said.

They remain hopeful of signing Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney and have all but completed a move for Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba. We are waiting. We have very good players.

'I remember we were winning a lot of things, our team was really strong and there were big names around, but the mentality of the group, the guys around, the staff, was so great, ' he said.

He also wants Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, Celtic's Kieran Tierney and a new centre back with head of football Raul Sanllehi leaving America, where Arsenal are now on tour, as the club try to step up their transfer business.

"Nketiah was playing very well past year", Emery said.

Further substitutions slowed the game down in the latter stages, but that did not stop Willock scoring his first goal of the pre-season.

"In December, we were thinking of loaning or not loaning the player to Germany and we decided he should stay with us to train and progress with us".
