Should Germany be anxious about Merkel's health after trembling spell?

Merkel's first shaking incident earlier in June

The bout came as she met German President Frank- Walter Steinmeier and she can be seen gripping her arms and pursing her lips in a bid to stop the trembling which took place over one minute, but her spokesman says she is fine. The most recent instance occurred during a ceremony with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

A Merkel spokesman said she would participate in the swearing-in of her new justice minister, Christine Lambrecht, and later on Thursday fly to Japan to participate in the G20 meeting this weekend.

"Since then I have drunk at least three glasses of water - I obviously needed that and so I'm doing very well now", she told reporters at a press conference with Zelensky shortly afterwards.

About a half hour later, when she arrived in parliament, Merkel appeared to be fine, according to Sky News. "The federal chancellor is fine", spokesman Steffen Seibert said.

She dismissed the concerns at the time, saying she was just dehydrated, and felt better after drinking some water.

There are fears over the health of German Chancellor Angela Merkel after distressing footage shows her violently shaking for the second time this month.

Although temperatures climbed to 98.6 degrees in Berlin Wednesday, temperatures were relatively cool Thursday and the event took place indoors.

Angela Merkel was seen shaking at a public event for the second time in less than two weeks.

On Tuesday last week, Merkel's whole body shook as she stood outside in hot weather alongside Ukraine's president. She is scheduled to fly to Japan for the G20 summit.

Mrs Merkel is now in her fourth term as chancellor, a role she first began in November 2005.

The chancellor has a reputation for stamina garnered in years of late-night domestic and European negotiating marathons.

Last year, Merkel said she won't seek a fifth term as chancellor and won't seek any other political job after her current term ends in 2021.

She is Germany's third-longest serving post-war chancellor.
