At a club that opened in 1933 but didn´t admit its first women members until 2012, LPGA legends Pak Se Ri, Annika Sorenstam, Lorena Ochoa and Nancy Lopez hit ceremonial shots off the first tee to launch the historic final round of the inaugural Augusta National Women´s Amateur.

American Anna Redding, a University of Virginia senior, was the first competitor to tee off, eight strokes adrift of U.S. leader Jennifer Kupcho, a Wake Forest University senior. She was a plus-8 after the first round, shooting 80 on the 72-par course on Wednesday.

Supervising editor is Theo DeRosa.

Kupcho, a senior at Wake Forest and the reigning NCAA champion, was bogey-free through 31 holes at Champions Retreat Golf Club and reached seven-under par. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, April 5. In the playoff, nine players safely negotiated the par-4 10th hole with pars, leaving Ainhoa Olarra of Spain and Alessia Nobilio of Italy fighting for the final place.

Sierra Brooks (70) and Kaitlyn Papp (69), both of the United States, and Thailand's Pimnipa Panthong (70), are tied for third place at three-under-par 141.

The Masters is often decided on the back nine on Sunday and that was the case for the women who played their final round on Saturday, as Kupcho showed why she is the world's top-ranked amateur by playing the final six holes in five under par.

Kupcho, who started on No. 10, was 3 under for the round through 10 holes and poised to stretch it even more when she missed a short birdie putt on the next hole.

"It's exciting to be a part of history", Lopez said.

NBC Sports is televising the final round.

In a week's time, we'll be mired in the triumphs and tribulations as Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry stride the fairways of Augusta National in their pursuit to be the first man from this part of the world to capture a Masters title.

"I think it is special for him to be here with me because we are going to remember this forever". "It is fun. So to make it look that way for everyone watching, I hope it encourages people to pick up a club and go play".
