Robert Kraft 'Absolutely' Will Not Accept Plea Deal

Mark Humphrey | AP

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft will turn down prosecutors' plea deal offer in the Florida massage-parlor prostitution scandal, according to Jason Carroll and Kevin Conlon of CNN.

In addition to the public acknowledgement of guilt, the proposed agreement would require all parties to complete a prostitution education course, 100 community service hours, pay a collection of court fines and undergo screenings for STDs, prior to the dismissal of charges.

It is now unknown if Kraft or the other men will accept the deal.

Multiple media outlets have reported that sources close to Kraft say he has no intention of accepting such a deal, although ESPN also reports that negotiations on a plea deal continue and Kraft hasn't rejected one outright.

The ESPN story also points out that "documents show that the two women Kraft is accused of receiving services from likely were not trafficked: one is 39 and was charged with operating illegal activity at the spa; the other is 58 years old". As a result of the investigation, ten spas have officially been closed and several people, primarily owners and employees of the aforementioned spas, have been brought up on criminal charges related to those operations. When law enforcement officials first announced the arrests of spa operators last month, they described it as a sex trafficking case. Kraft visited the massage parlor for sex acts on January 19 and 20, according to the documents charging him with two misdemeanor counts of soliciting prostitution.

News of the charges being dropped came the same day that a coalition of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking survivor networks wrote a letter calling on Goodell to investigate criminal charges against Kraft and if found to be true to strip him of ownership of the Super Bowl champions franchise, according to a letter released by the coalition on Tuesday.

In the initial indictment, Robert Kraft is alleged to have engaged in paid sexual acts with two different employees of the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida. Kraft's attorney could not be reached for comment, but previously told the Palm Beach Post that Kraft would not appear for a March 28 hearing.
