Robert Mueller sends Russian Federation investigation report to United States attorney general

Special counsel Robert Mueller has concluded his investigation into Russian election interference and possible coordination with associates of President Donald Trump.

Mr Barr said he may send Congress a summary of Mr Mueller's findings as soon as this weekend.

The fight to make Mueller's report public could be fierce and possibly spark a court battle between Congress and the executive branch. It also discloses, in accordance with federal regulations, that Mueller was not, at any point, overruled by Barr or by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in the course of his investigation.

It's not clear how much of the report will become public or provided to Congress. Barr has said he will write his own report summarizing Mueller's findings.

The almost two-year probe has shadowed Trump's presidency and resulted in felony charges against 34 people including six people who served on Trump's campaign.

Former FBI director James Comey said in a New York Times op-ed published Thursday that he neither knows nor cares what the conclusion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation will be - so long as the probe was conducted properly.

Mueller, a former FBI director, had been examining since 2017 whether Trump's campaign conspired with Moscow to try to influence the election and whether the Republican president later unlawfully tried to obstruct his investigation. Or is it because Mueller has concluded, James Comey style, that Trump did collude and/or interfere but that his conduct doesn't rise to the level of a crime? "I'm not rooting for anything at all, except that the special counsel be permitted to finish his work, charge whatever cases warrant charging and report on his work".

Cohen, the president's former lawyer, pleaded guilty in NY to campaign finance violations arising from the hush money payments and in the Mueller probe to lying to Congress about a Moscow real estate deal.

While Mueller's investigation is finished, the investigations into Trump, his business and his administration are far from over.

They, like Warner, didn't want Trump to throw a wrench in Congress' spokes by getting early access to the documents. Conservative pundits, however, seemed to have one general consensus: that the entire Russian Federation probe was nothing more than a witch hunt.

Presidential candidates Senator Cory Booker, D-N.J. and Senator Kamala Harris, D-Cal. also joined in on Twitter with similar insistent demands that the report be public.

"Let it come out, let people see it", the president told reporters on Wednesday.

Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow, Trump's personal lawyers, also issued a statement in response to Mueller's filing. No president has every been removed from office via impeachment.
