Trump Is Fine With Releasing Mueller Report

Whatever the preparations, White House officials know that Trump could decide to act on his own - taking to his favorite social medium, Twitter, to hail or attack the conclusions of the investigation.

With expectations rising that Mueller will wrap up his operation within weeks after having already charged six Trump associates and over two dozen Russians, Trump said that the secret report to be submitted to the Attorney General Bill Barr should be revealed to the public.

But according to a new report by Jonathan Lemire and Mary Clare Jalonick for the Associated Press (AP), Trump and some of his allies are thinking that Mueller's final report could work to his political advantage when it comes out. "And now I have somebody writing a report that never got a vote?"

Trump says: "I think it's ridiculous, but I want to see the report".

Trump referred to his 2016 election win as "one of the greatest.in the history of this country" and said by contrast that Mueller had no popular support. Trump did not explicitly say that he would authorize its release. Under the rules of his May 2017 appointment, Mueller, a former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is to submit to Barr "a confidential report explaining the prosecution or declination decisions".

In anticipation, Trump intensified his long-running campaign to question the legitimacy of Mueller, who is widely respected, and to undermine confidence in the report itself. "So explain that, because my voters don't get it and I don't get it".

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller has been probing Russian interference in the 2016 election for nearly two years.

"I had the greatest electoral victory - one of them - in the history of our country, tremendous success, tens of millions of voters and now somebody's going to write a report who never got a vote", he said.

Trump also criticized, although not by name, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who had recused himself from the Russian Federation probe, leaving Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to oversee Mueller's work. "I just hope it doesn't", Comey wrote.

Barr said he was shocked to see the text messages between Strzok and Page.

Trump described Mueller as "conflicted", and claims he is "best friends with [Jim] Comey". The Justice Department had no comment on Trump's remarks, and Barr was spotted eating his lunch with senior aides at the Justice Department cafeteria. "Lots of faces, lots of please, and lots of indictments", said Tur, pointing to images of individuals such as former Trump campaign consultant Paul Manafort, former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, and former Trump advisor George Papadopoulos, to name a few.
