Storm Gareth: Yellow weather warning for the UK

Met Éireann issues three new weather warnings as Ireland braces itself for Storm Gareth

As well as strong winds, Gareth is also expected to bring heavy rain overnight on Monday and Tuesday.

The rest of the country will remain under a yellow wind warning until 6am on Wednesaday.

Forecasters are also predicting that as the wintery conditions begin to return to the United Kingdom, temperatures will begin to drop to around 14C in the south and as low as -3C in parts of Scotland.

The Met Office say that "strong northwesterly winds" are expected during Tuesday night and into Wednesday.

The force added that motorists should take care, as snow and ice were reported in some parts of the county.

Of the Orange warning, Met Éireann said: "As storm Gareth approaches, westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 75km/h with damaging gusts reaching 110 to 130km/h".

Northern Ireland, northern England, Wales, and Scotland will be the worst affected, according to meteorologists.
