House Judiciary to request documents from Trump Jr., dozens more

Top Democrats Vow to Intensify Trump Probes

Nadler said the committee on Monday would release the list of people and organizations it would be requesting documents from.

"Tomorrow, we will be issuing document requests to over 60 different people and individuals from the White House to the Department of Justice, Donald Trump, Jr., Allen Weisselberg, to begin the investigations to present the case to the American people about obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power", Nadler said on "This Week" Sunday.

Monday's barrage of requests from House Democrats comes as special counsel Robert Mueller is said to be nearing the end of his investigation into potentially illegal ties between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and the Russian government.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Monday that the White House counsel's office and relevant officials will review the letter and respond at the appropriate time.

They are opening a sprawling investigation of whether he and his Administration have engaged in obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power. Collins says it is becoming more and more obvious that the Mueller report will show no collusion which is why House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff are investigating everything possible.

At the White House, Trump was asked if he would cooperate with Nadler's probe.

In their letters, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot L. Engel (D-N.Y.) and Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.) made note of media reports that Trump has sought to hide the details of his communications with Putin.

Nadler is also seeking to learn about communications regarding Trump's firing of Comey as FBI Director, as well as what occurred at a June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower in NY.

"Over the last several years, President Trump has evaded accountability for his near-daily attacks on our basic legal, ethical, and constitutional rules and norms", Nadler said.

"The House Judiciary Committee's letter has been received by the White House".

Democrats are now in control of the House of Representatives, with Republicans holding the Senate.

Among those receiving the requests would be Donald Trump Jr. They include former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former Trump adviser Roger Stone, and former attorney Michael Cohen.

He said that Trump's former long-time personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, in his lengthy public testimony to Congress last week, "directly implicated the president in - in various crimes, both while seeking the office of president and while in the White House".

Trump maintains that his campaign did not collude with Russian Federation and has repeatedly attacked the investigation on Twitter.
