ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski has revealed the Pelicans have yet to respond to the latest proposal by the Lakers.
With a trade request that went public last week that was made by Davis' agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, it's logical that the Pelicans would protect their coveted asset by keeping him shelved until a resolution is reached.
JaVale McGee had 16 points for the Lakers, who have lost two straight and six of their last eight.
Davis, 25, is under contract through the 2019 season and has a player option in 2020. Los Angeles does not seem to have such a deal in the works right now, unless New Orleans foolishly decides to send Davis there before the deadline. None of the young guys scored more than 12 points, with LeBron leading the way for LA with 18 points in the loss.
The Lakers have been actively trying to acquire Davis from the Pelicans, but according to a report from ESPN, New Orleans is nearly looking to be "overcompensated" in a deal to trade him before the deadline.

"I've had teammates every year be a part of trade deadline discussions and things of that nature and we've always figured out to just shield that away and play the game". Although the Celtics can't be sure about Irving's forthcoming decision in July, they remain confident that he'll choose to stay in Boston, sources said.
The Lakers' final offer did include two first-round draft picks, they said. Odds are though, the Pelicans will take their time and continue letting the offers come to them into the offseason. You're going to have to develop your young talent, you're going to have to try to win basketball games and at the same time have your name involved with somebody that doesn't even play with your team. With not much and/or nothing left in the clip, Los Angeles had to step back from trade talks. "But the more they wanted, the more it became outrageous and unrealistic".
If the Pelicans do decide to hang onto Anthony Davis for the rest of the season, they'll have to figure out what to do with him.
