For the First Time Since 1989, There Won't Be an Oscar Host

Kevin Hart

The same producer did imply that moving away from a single Oscar host will be a good change.

The comedian appeared on Good Morning America where he repeatedly said he would no longer "give energy" to the controversy which led to him stepping down as the host of next month's 91st Academy Awards.

The Academy still doesn't have a host for the 2019 Oscars ceremony (airing on February 24) after Kevin Hart backed out following backlash over his past homophobic tweets. "I understand you", he continued, adding that he hopes the LGBTQ community can forgive him and accept he's a different person from the one who sent those tweets nearly a decade ago.

Quoting the start of one of the controversial jokes from his 2010 stand-up routine during the show, Kevin paraphrased: "I want to say that I have no problem with gay people". "Right now, from a time perspective, I don't have the time".

It's a choice made significantly more hard by the reality that Hart is in the middle of a press tour for his latest film, The Upside, co-starring Bryan Cranston. "We don't post this shit on social media'". "Once again, Kevin Hart apologizes for his remarks that hurt members of the LGBTQ community". "I want everybody to know I'm done with it", Hart told Michael Strahan. It gets no more energy. He did say, 'I'm sorry, I apologize. Quite how it'll work remains to be seen - the last time there was no main host, the result was a show that saw Rob Lowe singing with Snow White, a memorably bad example of the format. There is no more conversation about it. I'm about today. If [my apology is] accepted today, great. If it's not, it's nothing that I can control.

The debacle on the Academy's hands is one entirely of their own making, shot through by their sycophantic love affair with all things left-of-center and politically correct. "So I'm done with it". "I'm not giving no more explanation of who I am, I'm just done". I shouldn't have to prove who I am.what more do you want from me?

"I'm not saying how I've changed anymore, I'm not saying what I've done and what the new me is".

Hart apologized in December for "insensitive words from my past" and told DeGeneres last week in an interview on her talk show that he does not "have a homophobic bone in my body".

Hart and Cranston tried to be as authentic to the characters as they could, the actor said, adding that the film really dives into perceptions, considering the two men come from two very different backgrounds. "It's his choice as an American. then you can feel about it however you want".
