Christian Eriksen: Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says deal would be 'fantastic'

Opinions & Transfer NewsManchester United favourites to sign Tottenham's Christian Eriksen

The result, coupled with Liverpool's defeat to Manchester City on Thursday, leaves Spurs in third-place - six points behind Jurgen Klopp's leaders.

Spurs cruised to a 7-0 away victory against League Two Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park and there were plenty of rotations within the squad by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Reacting on social media, Spurs fans took a swipe at their golden manager Pochettino, and the north London club's fan base is entitled to question the manager, who is linked with a move to Manchester United on a daily basis.

This was Tottenham's biggest margin of victory in a competitive match since they beat Wigan Athletic 9-1 in the Premier League in November 2009, and their biggest in The FA Cup since they beat Crewe 13-2 in a fourth round replay in February 1960.

Christian Eriksen is happy at Tottenham but it is his right to decide whether or not he stays at the club, according to Mauricio Pochettino.

"No, no, no, no, no". I respect a lot.

Tottenham travel to Tranmere in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday.

Son Heung-Min had a goal and two assists before being withdrawn just after the hour mark, while Fernando Llorente scored three times and Serge Aurier added a brace.

"If you don't finish how we have finished in the last three seasons and (win) the FA Cup, I don't know if Daniel (Levy, chairman) would have too much patience with me or is very nice to say, "OK you're 10th in the Premier League" and give you a new contract".

"Of course we are the first that we want to win a trophy but that doesn't mean that it is going to be a successful thing or put Tottenham in a different level".
