Meet big Knickers, the steer too big for the slaughterhouse

A huge steer in Australia

Knickers has also quickly found fame as a viral celebrity online, where he is unofficially known as Australia's biggest steer.

Steers grow to be much larger than bulls because they are castrated at an early age, meaning normal developmental hormone changes that halt growth do not occur.

As reported by 7 News Central Queensland, he is nearly as tall as Niall Quinn with the former Sunderland and Man City striker measuring in at 6 foot 4.

And of course Twitter has something to say about this.

Pearson told The Guardian he is unsure what contributed to Knickers' massive size; it's just some "freaky thing".

Australia Huge Steer

The farmer said he let Knickers live throughout the years because of his size but eventually realized, "he wasn't stopping growing", BBC News reported.

Knickers looms above the thousands of other cattle that he feeds with in rural Western Australia.

Sadly, this means Knickers won't be passing his jumbo genes along to any babies.

That's about double the weight and over a foot and a half taller than that of an average sized Holstein Friesian cow, according to the Holstein Association.

Knickers the steer is a bit on the shy side, but the bovine behemoth tends to stick out from the herd.

Owner Geoff Pearson - whose cow is the biggest of its breed in Australia - said: "It was too heavy".
