Footage of explosive gender reveal party that sparked Arizona wildfire released

Video captures dramatic moment that caused Sawmill Fire

It created an estimated $8 million worth of damage, but at least Dickey found out he'd be a father to a boy, right?

The fire burned for almost two weeks, causing around $8 million (£6.3m) worth of damage, destroying more than 45,000 acres of land and forcing many people from their homes. The target exploded as planned, revealing the blue powder, but it started what became the Sawmill Fire.

The incident happened back in Arizona in April 2017, but now thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request from the Arizona Daily Star the video has been made public.

Dennis Dickey, a border patrol agent from Tucson, pleaded guilty in September to a misdemeanor violation of U.S. Forest Service regulations.

The intended explosion was detonated as part of a gender reveal party. He mixed colored powder into a Tannerite exploding target which would show blue or pink smoke when shot with a rifle. A man's voice yells, "start packing up! start packing up!"

"I feel absolutely awful about it".

Dickey reported the fire immediately and admitted to starting it. "Dickey also agreed to make an initial payment of $100,000 toward the restitution judgement and monthly payments thereafter". According to the Arizona Daily Star and the Green Valley News, he agreed in court to pay $500 a month for the next 20 years, which adds up to $120,000, for a total of $220,000 including the first payment. When he shot at, and hit, the target, he caused an explosion which ultimately set off a massive forest fire.
