EPL: Big win takes Man City back to top spot

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri admitted that he was pleased to escape with a 1-0 win over BATE Borisov after claiming his side had "all the conditions to play badly" on a freezing night in Belarus.

Red Star are running away with the Serbian championship once again this season and they have a 100 per-cent winning record on home soil in domestic competitions, but Liverpool should end that run on Tuesday.

The England man scored twice and assisted twice in City's second 6-1 home victory of the season.

Chelsea are [12.5] to win the Premier League title.

Cesc Fabregas was left out of the 19-man Chelsea squad that travelled to Belarus on Wednesday after suffering a fever, and Sarri revealed Alvaro Morata has stayed in the United Kingdom to rest after his two-goal contribution against Palace.

Premier League champions Manchester City will look to reclaim the top spot when they welcome strugglers Southampton to the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has been included in the squad for Thursday's Europa League match at BATE Borisov.

'Yes, I'm pleased for him, ' Sarri said.

Sarri wants Hazard to get some additional match action, after his return last Sunday, and insisted the flight was not a problem for the Belgian. I think it is better for him to stay fit with two or three training [sessions] than only with matches.

Last term he played well for Crystal Palace, and has also made his mark at global level. Willian then saw a goal disallowed for offside in the closing stages of the first half. And so, for his confidence, I think it's very important.

Wilson played a big role in Bournemouth's promotion to the Premier League after he netted 20 times in 45 games in the Championship in the 2014-15 season.

BATE nearly snatched a leveller in the third minute of added-on time, but Baha's 20-yard volley struck the post before Chelsea frantically cleared the ball away from danger and saw out the remaining seconds for their fourth successive win of the group.
