CNN reporter Jim Acosta was dressed down by Trump after challenging him on his characterisation of the migrant caravan heading to the U.S. as an "invasion".

Frustrated by Acosta's criticism of a campaign ad, Trump finally said: "You should let me run the country and you should run CNN".

When Acosta tried to ask further questions, Trump became angry, demanding that the reporter sit down and give up the microphone. To Jim Acosta, as he tried to explain the migrant caravan to the president: 'Thank you for telling me that, I appreciate it.'11.

The CNN reporter continued to hold the microphone to ask a question about the Russian Federation investigation while Trump tried to move on to another reporter. "And you shouldn't be working for CNN". Go ahead. You are a very rude person, the way that you treat Sarah Huckabee Sanders is disgusting.

At another point, a reporter repeatedly questioned Trump about whether or not he's a racist and whether he has ever made racist comments. "That's enough. Put down the mic", Trump said. "You shouldn't treat people that way", he said, referring to his spokeswoman, who frequently spars with reporters during press briefings. "You ask me - no, you rudely interrupted him".

Acosta continued to try to talk as the aide was seen trying to take the microphone from his hand.

"That's such a racist question", responded the president, who noted his high approval rating among black Americans. Trump said. The president may have been referring to an October 29 Rasmussen Reports poll he tweeted last week, which showed 40 percent of African-Americans approved of his performance.

President Trump also says he's happy with "most" of his Cabinet as he suggests changes may be coming.

Asked specifically about the future of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Trump says, "I'd rather answer that at a little bit different time".

Fox News' Chris Wallace called Acosta's behavior "shameful".
