US Troops Should Treat Rocks As ‘Rifles’ At Southwest Border

Planes are loaded with trucks ahead of deployment to the border

In a meandering speech at the White House about immigration, Trump recycled numerous talking points he touts on the campaign trail - but offered little in the way of concrete ways to address the problems he embellished.

The migrants are being represented by attorneys with McFadden and Shoreman of Washington, Williams Oinonen of Atlanta, and Nexus Derechos Humanos Attorneys of Atlanta. What they did to the Mexican military is a disgrace.

"They broke in to Mexico".

Today, a smaller caravan from El Salvador crossed through a river to enter the Mexico's southern state of Chiapas.

The caravan now consists of about 4,000 people near Oaxaca. "Each day on average for the last three weeks CBP has encountered a combination of nearly 1,900 persons apprehended crossing our border illegally or presenting without documents at ports of entry". The migrants are still more than 1,000 kilometers (more than 620 miles) from the USA, a distance that will likely take several weeks for them to walk. We will NOT let these Caravans, which are also made up of some very bad thugs and gang members, into the US.

But many appear to be growing increasingly angry with caravan organizers after confusion broke out regarding buses that would have taken migrants to Mexico City more quickly.

But it remains unclear how many people now en route to the USA will even make it to the border.

Babies born in the US are deemed American citizens under the Constitution's 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to "all persons born or naturalized in the United States".

As I've said from the beginning of this, the concern isn't so much with this specific caravan as with what could happen if this one is perceived to be successful.

Cuellos said she owned a cantina back home in Honduras but left because she could no longer make rent and was being harassed by police.

"If our soldiers - or ICE or Border Patrol - are going to be hit in the face with rocks, we're going to arrest those people quickly and for a very long time". But hitching rides allowed them to get to Donaji early, and some headed to a town even further north, Sayula.

James Stavridis, a retired Navy admiral and former head of the US Southern Command, said the troops should be preparing for combat and other missions, "not monitoring a peaceful border" for the arrival of a migrant caravan of several thousand people on foot, still about 900 miles (1,450 kilometres) away.

Similarly, Mexican authorities also said that migrants attacked its agents with rocks, glass bottles and fireworks when they broke through a gate on the Mexican border, but were pushed back.

There has also been pressure on the main caravan. Federal police began pulling freight trucks over and forcing migrants off, saying their habit of clinging to the tops or sides of the trucks was risky. On previous days, they have ordered passenger vans to stop transporting migrants.

Fox News' Jennifer Griffin and The Associated Press contributed to this Fox News report, which is used by permission. "That does not mean shoot them". "They have helped us in new ways to slow this down, to break this up and keep it from moving as aggressively toward the United States".

Trump said he told the military mobilizing at the border that if migrants try to throw rocks at soldiers, they should act as though the rocks are "rifles".

In a lengthy speech Thursday, Trump said migrants are abusing the asylum system and making a "mockery" of immigration laws.

Also, on missions on USA soil, where they are serving in a support role to civilian government agencies, the military cannot perform law enforcement duties, such as arrests, if the incident occurs outside of federal property such as a military base.
