Indiana Girl, Twin Brothers Killed While Crossing Street To School Bus

3 children fatally struck by vehicle while boarding school bus in Indiana

Indiana State Police tweeted Tuesday morning that a vehicle hit and killed three children waiting at a school bus stop in Rochester in Fulton County, Indiana. They charged her with three counts of reckless homicide and one additional misdemeanor count for driving around a school bus that had its lights on and arm extended.

A fourth child who is 11 years old was seriously injured and has been airlifted to a hospital in Fort Wayne.

"How could you look away from the road?" But "once you got past the shyness, the two boys were a life spark", he added.

Shepherd's crumpled pickup truck could be seen where the wreck happened for several hours after it happened. "They were nonstop happy, jump high, go fast boys".

The victims' uncle, Elgin Ingle, appreciates the outpouring of support.

He described Alivia as a girl who loved baseball and her family, especially her little brothers.

"She's what you'd want in a child", he told the outlet.

A courageous girl tried to shield her brothers, when they were all killed while trying to catch a school bus. "You're supposed to get on the bus stop and be safe", Ingle said. She had a split second to think of what to do.

The children died following the Tuesday morning crash, which occurred after a school bus driver pulled up outside of a mobile home park, police said in a news release posted on Twitter. "I wish she could've saved her brothers, but she's still a hero".

Indiana State Police Sgt. "I haven't seen troopers cry in a long time".

"I just can't imagine the pain that family is going through", he said, according to NBC Chicago.

'They were standing on the west side of the road getting onto the bus, which did have a stop arm activated as required by law and unfortunately, for whatever reason, the person failed to stop and caused three fatalities and at least one injury at this time, ' he said to NBC.
