Steelers rumors indicate possible trade for Patrick Peterson

Patrick Peterson

It's too early to know what will come this drama Peterson and the Cardinals, but coach Steve Wilks addressed the issue at his news conference Monday.

The asking price for Peterson would be expected to be a second- or third-round pick, considering his skill set makes his value worth a first-rounder.

Arizona Cardinals standout cornerback Patrick Peterson has asked the team to trade him before the league's deadline on October 30, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, are insisting they will not trade the All Pro cornerback.

Peterson has two interceptions, three pass deflections, a fumble recovery, a sack, and 35 tackles in his seven starts for Arizona. As they sit on top of the NFC South with a record of 5-1, the Saints are one of a handful of teams who could be legitimately considered as a Super Bowl contender.

Were not trading Patrick.

The 28-year-old Peterson is under contract to the Cardinals through the 2020 season.

Apparently, the rumors got into Peterson's head as well.

Trading Peterson would give the Cardinals the chance to stockpile draft picks and build a team around rookie quarterback Josh Rosen.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports tweeted that New Orleans and Philadelphia have reached out concerning Peterson's availability. If the Eagles were to acquire Peterson, they could put him on one side of the field, playing opposite of Ronald Darby.
