Brett Kavanaugh accuser speaks out about sexual assault allegations

Hassan joins growing list of senators who won't support Kavanaugh

A centrist Democratic senator and two Republican colleagues argued Sunday that a decades-old sexual misconduct allegation against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh should have been raised sooner in the Senate and predicted it would not prevent the chamber from moving forward with his nomination to the Supreme Court.

Watching Kavanaugh move toward a likely confirmation, she made a decision to end her effort to come forward, according to the New Yorker.

Blasey spoke to The Washington Post in an exclusive report about the event in question: more specifically, a summer evening in the 1980s in which Kavanaugh was "stumbling drunk" and assaulted her in a bedroom at a party.

While his friend watched, Ford recounts to The Post, Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed on her back and groped her over her clothes, grinding against and attempting to pull off her one-piece bathing suit and the clothing she wore over it.

She said she was able to escape when Kavanaugh's friend, Mark Judge, jumped on top of them, sending all three tumbling.

Ford did not tell anyone about the incident until she was in couple's therapy in 2012.

He told The New Yorker: 'I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation. Democrats have argued throughout that the process has been rushed, with documents relating to Kavanaugh's time in the George W Bush White House withheld from congressional scrutiny.

The White House also weighed in with a statement on Thursday.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said that he would like to have Kavanaugh confirmed by October 1, the start of the Supreme Court's new term. Feinstein has give the letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. "There's really not much that can be done unless this person comes forward and you can see this and talk to the person who wrote that letter". Judge stood across the room, she said, and both boys were laughing "maniacally". She decided not to go public when it seemed that speaking out about Kavanaugh, whom President Donald Trump nominated on July 9, could ruin her life and not affect whether he was confirmed.

Grassley's office says it will proceed with the planned Judiciary committee vote on Kavanaugh's nomination next week.

Kavanaugh was also a clerk for Alex Kozinski, who resigned as a federal appeals court judge over allegations of sexually harassing and mistreating law clerks. "It is critical in matters of sexual misconduct to protect the identity of the victim when they wish to remain anonymous, and the senator did so in this case", the spokesman said. Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Sixty-five women who knew Kavanagh in high school defended him in another letter, circulated by Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans, as someone who "always treated women with decency and respect".

Ford, a clinical psychology professor at Palo Alto University, sent a letter describing the incident to Sen. In defense, Kavanaugh and Judge have offered only a blanket denial.
