Police release the name of 3 victims killed by Cincinnati 'lone shooter'

Four people including suspect killed during shooting in downtown Cincinnati bank

A gunman opened fire inside the premises of a bank building in the city of Cincinnati in the USA, killing three on Thursday.

Suspect Omar Enrique Santa Perez lies on the ground, seen behind glass of left window pane, after being engaged by police as seen on police body camera video displayed during a news conference detailing the shooting incident of the previous day in the downtown business district, Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, in Cincinnati. Isaac said he used a 9mm semiautomatic pistol, had multiple magazines and a "significant amount of ammunition".

City councilman P.G. Sittenfeld said on Twitter that every city has its sacred spaces, and for Cincinnati that was Fountain Square, "a place of joy and protest and coming together".

The victims apparently were shot at random by the gunman, who had no accomplices, Issac said.

"She walked in the door and he shot her", Cain told The Cincinnati Enquirer, adding he heard up to 15 shots.

Fountain Square is a heavily trafficked landmark in the middle of the city.

Martinez Perez described him as "very quiet" and said he had been working various jobs but his family didn't know where.

Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley said: "We send our prayers to the victims and their families".

A Cincinnati police officer told reporters earlier that they do not expect any more shooting victims and warned people in the immediate vicinity to remain on lock down until further notice.

They were identified as Prudhvi Raj Kandepi, 25, Richard Newcomer, 64, and Luis Felipe Calderón, 48, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's office.

People in and around the building reported hearing a series of gunshots.

One witness, James Walker told CNN affiliate WLWT, said he heard about eight gunshots and got on his knees. The bank building was locked down for most of the morning, and the usually crowded surrounding streets and sidewalks were closed off.

"No other industrialized country has this level of multiple active shootings on a regular basis, nearly on a daily basis", Cranley said. Police say the suspect had never worked at Fifth Third and don't have any information linking him to other businesses in the building.

According to officials with University of Cincinnati Medical Center, the hospital received a total of four victims: Three males and one female.
