Trump Was Predictably Petty Following The Death Of Senator John McCain

Senator John McCain left with Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak

McCain was 'a committed hawk who pecked at Russian Federation out of principle, ' Rossiya 1 reported on its main news show on Sunday evening, devoting more than four minutes to the senator's life.

While stressing McCain's contempt for President Donald Trump, the show predicted that USA 'attempts to restrain and isolate Russian Federation with harsh sanctions will continue - just now without John McCain'.

"Throughout his congressional career Senator McCain stood with Israel because throughout his life he stood up for America's allies and our shared democratic values", the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) said in a statement on Saturday.

Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that McCain will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda, a rare honor that has been given to only a dozen former senators since the tradition began in 1852, according to the Architect of the Capitol. He was taken prisoner and held in the infamous Hanoi Hilton prison for more than five years.

Opposition leader and former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said, "John McCain was not only an American hero, but a hero to many all over the world".

But Trump told aides he wanted to post a brief tweet instead, and the statement praising McCain's life was not released. McCain, who had been suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer, died Saturday (Aug. 25) at the age of 81 at home in Arizona.

"Few of us have been tested the way John once was, or required to show the kind of courage that he did", Obama, who bested McCain in the 2008 presidential election, said in a statement.

Obama and George W. Bush will be giving eulogies at McCain's funeral. "But we have always had so much more in common with each other than in disagreement", McCain went on to write.

McCain's presidential running mate, Sarah Palin: "Today we lost an American original. Our prayers are with Senator McCain's family and friends tonight".

Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh writes in a condolence book near a portrait of U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) about his death at the United States embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam on Monday. He continued to issue statements and tweets, published a valedictory book and took part in an HBO documentary that some likened to starring in his own obituary.

Former vice president Joe Biden, McCain's longtime Senate colleague, is expected to speak at a service for the Arizona Republican in Phoenix on Thursday.

All five living former USA presidents issued statements praising McCain.

Trump also said that Chief of Staff John Kelly, Secretary of Defense James Mattis and National Security Adviser John Bolton will represent the White House at McCain's services.
