Gmail confidential mode on mobile: How - and why - you should use it

Gmail Brings Confidential Emails to Mobile

Gmail is one of the most popular email clients that has surpassed 1 billion active users in 2016. This means that you don't even have to update your Gmail app to receive the feature, as it is being pushed from the server side by Google. According to Gmail's official Google+ page, the feature is now rolling out to Gmail users on mobile.

Basically, with the Confidential Mode feature, you can send an email that will disappear after a while. Snooze and Smart Reply were among those features that were introduced in the Gmail redesign. Once there you'll be able to set passcodes, restrictions, and other options to keep your email and its contents safe. Hence, you can easily send emails and projects as an attachment. The feature was initially only available on the desktop version of the Gmail, but mobile users can now have access to it as gradual roll out has begun.

Once this is done, attach the file that you want, and send the email to the recipient. It may even require two-step security system in which the recipient must enter a code, received via text message, before the email can be opened.

How to turn on Confidential mode? Just check the menu if you want to know whether you have received the update or not. Recipients of these confidential emails won't be able to copy, paste, download, print or forward the message, and attachments will be disabled. Recipients who don't use Gmail will have a passcode emailed to them.

Confidential messages will be strictly about conveying the message to the person you choose to send it to. As such, they'll be thoroughly pleased with what Confidential Mode has to offer. That implies that Google now has another piece of personal information - an email associated with a telephone number.

Tap the remove access option at the bottom of the email. In a recent review, EFF points out that the message isn't encrypted from end-to-end, so Google could read the contents.
