Last week, the company removed four videos on four Jones- and Infowars-related Facebook pages for violating its hate speech and bullying policies.

According to Facebook, the takedown has nothing to do with Jones spreading false news, but for posting content that glorified violence and used dehumanizing language to describe transgender people, Muslims, and immigrants.

In a Monday blog post on Infowars.com, editor-at-large Paul Joseph Watson claimed the ban from Facebook, YouTube, Spotify and Apple "was a coordinated effort and has nothing to do with these platforms enforcing "hate speech" rules".

YouTube, Apple and Facebook have removed main outlets for conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his Infowars website, citing repeated violations of policies against hate speech and glorifying violence.

YouTube said in a statement that when users violate its policies against hate speech and harassment, "we terminate their accounts".

Jones is known for claiming that the September 11 terror attacks on NY and Washington were staged by the government, as well as for his adamence that the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school massacre was the work of left-wing activists working to promote gun control.

Jones has been dubbed "the most paranoid man in America [who] is trying to overthrow the 'global Stasi Borg state, ' one conspiracy theory at a time", by Rolling Stone magazine.

Jones has also claimed that the September 11, 2001 attacks on NY and Washington were staged by the U.S. government.

On Sunday, Apple's iTunes removed most of Jones' content. Removing some of his videos here, taking down his podcasts there. Last week, Jones defended his content choices and said that Facebook and YouTube were trying to "kill speech in this country".

Nearly all of the notorious alt-right figurehead Alex Jones's videos have been removed by Apple, an executive told Buzzfeed.

Sleeping Giants, an activist organisation that vows to "make bigotry and sexism less profitable", has been lobbying Apple to take action against Jones.

Infowars had a somewhat different take on the motives behind the removals Monday, accusing tech companies of trying to sway public opinion.

Well, Jones can still disseminate content via his InfoWars site, and he can (for now) continue to tweet about clips entitled, "World Exclusive Alex Jones Responds To Being Banned From The Internet". Apple has also pulled several Infowars podcasts from iTunes, YouTube has followed suit with Infowars videos, while Spotify recently deleted of his shows from its service.

The controversial nature of Infowars prompted journalists and the public to question why Facebook and YouTube allowed the site's content onto their platforms as both companies fight fake news and abuse.

Facebook is the latest tech company to take action against Jones following social-media backlash. But the company did not give specifics on Jones or Infowars.

It's unclear exactly how many episodes were ditched, although the vast majority of content created by Jones remains available to Spotify users.

"What we are witnessing is an ideological purge meant to re-define the very concept of free speech", InfoWars editor-at-large Paul Joseph Watson wrote.
