Warner wants more Americans in Trump-Putin meeting

Trump Declares EU a 'Foe,' Alongside Russia and China

The meeting comes just days after 12 Russian intelligence officers were charged by a USA federal grand jury for hacking the Democrats ahead of the 2016 election, the most detailed US accusation yet that Moscow meddled in the election to help Trump.

Mr Trump says such sessions are beneficial.

On Friday, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced the indictments, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into Russia's alleged efforts to interfere in the general election.

"We could start there", says Dingell.

President Donald Trump is tweeting about golf, blaming his predecessor for election hacking and hate-watching CNN, two days before a high-stakes summit with Russia's Vladimir Putin.

In an interview yesterday with CBS News Trump was asked to describe the US's biggest foes - and the first on the list was the European Union - before going on to name Russian Federation and China.

Trump and his top aides were downplaying expectations for Monday's summit as Trump continued to rattle allies by lumping in the European Union with Russian Federation and China after barnstorming across Europe, causing chaos at the recent North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit and in a trip to the United Kingdom.

"We need to have other Americans in the room", Warner said.

"That's a really good thing", he said.

The call happened a few weeks after Putin showed the video during his address to the Russian parliament and before his re-election, Axios reports. He also described the European Union as a foe on trade. Before leaving for Finland, Trump tweeted that he was "looking forward to meeting with President Putin" and slammed his critics. "And previous year, since I was elected, we picked up 34 billion dollars extra", he was quoted as saying.

The summit is expected to address a range of issues, including Syria, nuclear weapons and election meddling.

They also expect Trump to bring up Russia's incursion into Ukraine and the allegations of Russian meddling in the election.

Mr Huntsman said the meeting will go on, arguing that some global issues can't be solved without Russian engagement.

France defeated Croatia on Sunday to finish off the 21st World Cup, the first held in Eastern Europe in central Moscow's Luzhniki stadium, at a time when Trump and Putin's relationship is in the spotlight.

People attend "Helsinki Calling" protest ahead of meeting between Trump and Putin in Helsinki. Mr Putin has repeatedly denied that Russian Federation sought to skew the election. "And, you know I love those countries".
