Trump arrives in UK

US embassy in London warns Americans in UK to ‘keep low profile’ during Trump visit

"I think they like me a lot in the UK", Trump said in Brussels.

But she also warned Mr Trump not to ignore the "malign behaviour" of Russian Federation.

Instead, the couple arrived via helicopter and was driven by limousine onto the property, where they were welcomed by British Prime Minister Theresa May and her husband, Philip.

"We need to show the world what millions of people in this country think of the bigotry and the hatred that he represents", protest organizer Owen Jones said.

Speaking at a press conference following a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels, the president said he thought the vote for Brexit was primarily due to concerns about immigration.

That turmoil includes the resignations of May's Brexit and foreign ministers over her plan to retain close ties with the European Union after leaving the bloc in March.

"Tomorrow we have some large protests in central London and as the president of the United States makes his way through the country it is the Metropolitan Police who are responsible for his protection and security".

Protesters gathered outside the U.S. ambassador's residence in London, where the Trumps are staying tonight, and near Blenheim Palace.

He also said he might speak to Boris Johnson, who quit as foreign secretary over May's plans for a business-friendly Brexit which was only agreed by her cabinet last Friday after two years of wrangling.

The U.S. Embassy has warned U.S. citizens to keep a low profile during the visit because of the protests, the sort of warning usually issued in more volatile locations.

Donald Trump has arrived at London's Stansted Airport and will meet the Prime Minister and the Queen.

Tonight he will attend a gala dinner with United States and UK business leaders at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire - the ancestral seat of Sir Winston Churchill.

Asked about Trump's comments, May said: "We're delivering on the vote of the British people to take back control of our money, our laws and our borders". "I think that's why Brexit happened".

Trump has clashed in the past with May - even though she is a conservative who shares his view that defense spending should be raised - and with her predecessor, David Cameron, who challenged Trump's anti-Muslim campaign stance as "divisive, stupid and wrong". "Obviously demonstrations are one of the most visible ones, but there's also the potential opportuning and exploitation of the visit by those with more nefarious intentions".

The two leaders will hold talks the following day at Chequers, the 16th-century manor house which is the prime minister's official country residence.

"Give us your tired and your oppressed and we'll divide you from your children", he said mockingly of Mr. Trump's policies.

However, the Scottish Government approved the plans with the UK Supreme Court eventually rejecting Mr Trump's legal challenge in 2015.

Mr Trump had joked earlier this week that his meeting with Vladimir Putin in the Finnish capital Helsinki on Monday "may be the easiest" part of his European trip.

Trump next heads to Windsor Castle later Friday for tea with the queen, as protesters stage a mass demonstration in London.
