Madrid's Asensio doesn't deny rumours of Liverpool interest

Report: Liverpool Make €180m Bid For Real Star Asensio

The Daily Star says that Liverpool have been "handed a boost" in their pursuit of Brazilian ace Malcom.

The former Espanyol star, who signed a new six-year deal with the Madrid side in September, made 53 appearances for Real last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting in a further six strikes.

Asensio has had to contend with repeated rumours regarding his club future during his time in the Spain camp, with Mundo Deportivo reporting at the weekend that a £150m bid could be tabled by Liverpool.

Asensio will be the player to make way and that Real would take 200m euros (£176m) from Reds.

He developed a lot as a player under Zinedine Zidane, but was not a regular starter.

Should Liverpool sign Asensio, he would become the Reds' third summer signing, following Fabinho and Naby Keita to Anfield. But, Liverpool have stepped up their interest in the youngster this summer, as they look to bolster their attack by finally landing a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

Fekir's agent, though, has since indicated a transfer could yet be completed, while new Real Madrid head coach Julen Lopetegui is reportedly interested in taking him to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Despite a constant drip of reports that the deal may still happen that is not from Liverpool's end; the club are maintaining they've moved on. And although Madrid is not keen on letting Asensio leave the club they may have no choice but to let the attacking midfielder leave the club in order to not waste his talents on the bench.

And according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Asensio's possible exit is exclusively down to Real president Florentino Perez's pursuit of PSG's Neymar. But, what remains to be seen is if they abandon their pursuit of Fekir to completely focus on bringing over the 22-year-old from Real Madrid, now that Los Blancos seem ready to sell.
