Michael Cohen 'likely to cooperate'

Report: Michael Cohen ‘Likely’ to Cooperate With Federal Prosecutors

President Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, denies that Mr. Trump's former fixer, Michael Cohen, may cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller. The WSJ's report also clarified that Cohen is now "searching for a federal criminal lawyer in New York" and noted that Cohen wanted an attorney "with close ties to the Manhattan U.S. attorney's office".

Dershowitz said that until it's known who Cohen's new lawyer is, "we won't have a sense of what is going on".

Cohen's lawyers had been scrambling to meet federal Judge Kimba Wood's Friday deadline to complete a review of over 3.7 million documents seized in the April 9 raids of Cohen's NY home, office and hotel room, the network reported.

"Michael Cohen I think would tell you he's got nothing incriminating with the president", he added, saying that he would be "very comfortable" if Cohen began cooperating with prosecutors.

"Mr. Ryan's abandonment of his client is a disaster for Mr. Cohen and Mr. Trump", Michael Avenatti, an attorney for the adult film actress Stormy Daniels, said in an email.

The longtime attorney to President Donald Trump expects to be put in cuffs any day now, possibly opening up his top client to legal complications, a person familiar with the matter said Tuesday.

The firm's spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for comment. NBC News' Katy Tur also reported that Cohen expected to be arrested soon.

Vanity Fair's Emily Jane Fox, who seems well connected to Cohen and his circle, filled in the blanks, reporting that Cohen feels isolated and pushed away by the Trump inner circle and the Trump family.

The investigation into Cohen is separate from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the 2016 Trump campaign.

He's arranged hush-money payments to women alleging they'd had affairs with Trump.

Cohen's business is now under investigation in Manhattan, which includes the controversial $130,000 hush money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 presidential election.

Above the Law offers its speculation on possible reasons for the split.

Trump has worked with Cohen for years.

The special master, retired judge Barbara Jones, reported earlier this month that only 162 of the first 292,000 items she reviewed should be withheld on those grounds.
