Trump calls for end to Russian expulsion from G7

Putin teases new arms Lasers & hypersonic missiles in service but ‘that’s not all

No matter how worldwide situations change, China and Russian Federation always firmly support each other in defending their respective core interests, deepen cooperation in all areas, jointly and actively participate in global governance, and play a pivotal role in establishing a new type of worldwide relations and building a community with a shared future for humanity, Xi said in his talks with Putin.

"We just had some vodka together and carved some sausage", he recalled, adding: "I have never had such a relationship or arrangement with any other foreign colleague".

Mr. Xi and Mr. Putin are "soulmates who want to make their countries great again", Alexander Gabuev, senior fellow at the Carnegie Moscow Center, told AFP.

"We need the president to be able to distinguish between our allies and adversaries, and to treat each accordingly", he said in a statement.

Putin was re-elected to a fourth Kremlin term in March.

Asked to choose a "dream encounter" with Putin, 37.8 percent chose to take a picture with Putin, 29.9 percent chose getting a puppy from the dog-loving president and 22.47 percent chose wanting a hug from the Russian leader, CRI reported.

"The experience I have with the president of the United States tells me that even though his actions are often criticized, especially recently, including on the global arena and in the economic sphere, he is still a reflective person and he is able to listen and react to another person's arguments", Putin said.

"You know, the two presidents discussed the necessity of holding such a meeting in their last telephone call. Economic globalisation and regional economic integration are the trend of the times", Xi said.

Xi then awarded Putin China's first ever friendship medal, on a large gold coloured chain, an event carried live on state television.

He said that the Chinese President was the only state leader "who celebrated his birthday with him", sharing vodka and sausage.

Xi "is approachable and sincere", Putin told CGTN. "But he is also a very dependable man to work with".

The two pledge to continue their coordination efforts for a peaceful and comprehensive solution to the Korean Peninsula issue. We were in the meetings.

"I have been Russia's worst nightmare", Trump said, in apparent reference to accusations that he has been soft on Moscow.

"They should let Russian Federation come back in because we should have Russian Federation at the negotiating table", he said. "For the past 18 years, he has played an active role in promoting China-Russia ties", Wang Lijiu, an expert of Russian studies at the China Institutes of contemporary International Relations, told the Global Times.

But, she said "it's an asymmetrical relationship with Russian Federation more dependent on China than vice versa, especially in the economic sphere".
