Kaala movie Facebook live

Why are films getting caught up in political battles?

As Rajinikanth's much-anticipated film Kaala hits the screens, the film has received an overwhelming response from the screens.

The film, however, will have its full-fledged release in the state on Friday, The New Indian Express reported.

With the good reviews coming the film's way, the collection of Kaala is expected to improve in the next few days. "Everybody is waiting for the film to be released", the bench told the petitioner's counsel. Vishal adds that "Kaala" may well surprise naysayers. "The promos of Kaala haven't established a connect with Hindi audiences".

"Kaala has to compete with a Steven Spielberg franchise Jurassic World which is a huge event".

Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty, who has worked repeatedly with Rajini on "Ra.One", "Robot" etc, has also been quoted saying that Rajini's politics could be a negative force in his career.

In Bengaluru, single-screen theaters known to release Tamil movies are not screening the movie amidst protests. "But I would like to act with Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan", the perfectionist had said.

Hundreds of activists of pro-Kannada organisations, including the KRV, gathered outside theatres and multiplexes in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, Mangaluru, Ballari and Belagavi to protest against the film's release."Cauvery water is more important than a Rajinikanth film for us". Even the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) is reportedly disappointed with Thalaivar over his comments on Cauvery water issue. Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had requested the distributor of "Kaala" not to release it in "this kind of atmosphere", but assured that his government would follow the high court order on the issue. Our honour and Kannada pride are at stake.

Upset with Rajinikanth's statement over the Cauvery row, a Karnataka film body banned the release of the film earlier this month.
