Jackson unlikely to return as Trump doctor

The President was said to have adopted a'ready shoot aim as opposed to ready aim shoot' approach to hiring

Jackson will instead rejoin the White House as a member of its medical unit staff, ABC News, Politico and The Washington Post reported.

On Monday, Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah said the rear admiral is on active duty, and is still working with the White House medical unit.

"Despite published reports, there are no personnel announcements at this time", Shah said in a statement.

Trump tapped Jackson last month to serve as Veterans Affairs Secretary, surprising lawmakers and veterans groups since Jackson has little managerial experience.

The president has taken aim at Tester in recent days after the Montana Democrat, who is up for reelection in a state Trump won, released a document that laid out allegations that Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, Trump's VA secretary pick, drank on the job, overprescribed medication and fostered a hostile work environment as personal physician to the president.

Jon Tester Tries To Move Past Ronny Jackson Controversy The ad doesn't reference the Jackson controversy, but Tester's political consultants must know portraying the Senator as a longtime veterans advocate could help inoculate him from charges of politicizing the Jackson nomination.

Tester's allegations painted a picture of Jackson as some sort of drunken, pill-pushing quack, handing out drugs willy-nilly (Tester claimed on national television Jackson was called "The Candyman") and generally conducting himself dishonorably. We know from Tester's prior ads he doesn't want to be seen as a knee-jerk Trump opponent, so expect more ads touting Tester's work for our military men and women.

Where does Jackson go to get his reputation back? Clearly, Jackson should have been vetted, just as any presidential nominee should head to Capitol Hill.

These allegations were so outrageous that Jonathan Swan, the reporter from Axios who broke the original story that Jackson's nomination was in trouble, refused to print them. "And if I said them, he'd never be elected again". I knew what these allegations were. So I'm not just going to go, 'Well, it's alleged, and I am hearing that this guy did all of these awful things, and x, y, and z, ' because I have no idea if it's true or not. "Surely, this is a problem". One might have expected the media to learn a lesson about anonymously sourced dossiers past year, but noooooooooo.

Trump has routinely said he "chooses only the best people for [his] administration" and will likely spend some time ensuring his next nominee for VA is a top-notch candidate.
