A beta version of this new setting, called iPhone Battery Health, is included in today's new version of iOS. And it's designed not to be a nuisance: only you can start a chat, so companies won't nag you, and no personal information will be shared unless you decide to share it. You can update is for free, by tapping Setting/General/Software Update on the device.
When you first install iOS 11.3, you're greeted with a landing page about its new Data & Privacy feature that states, "Apple believes privacy is a fundamental human right".
This feature should serve to cut down on the success rate of phishing attempts by less-than-reputable third-party apps that seek to fool users into giving up their personal data.
Apple is also introducing a new feature in the Health app.
The software will also introduce four new Animoji: a lion, bear, dragon and skull.
But you'll also be able to schedule appointments and make Apple Pay purchases with it too.
