Body found in shallow grave identified as missing model

Remains found in shallow grave thought to belong to missing modelMore

A decomposed body discovered in a shallow grave in Northern California is believed to be that of a missing young Hollywood model and aspiring actress, Adea Shabani, police announced Tuesday.

'We can not say that conclusively at this point in time because the condition of the remains prohibited positive identification, ' he added, revealing that Christopher Spotz, a man authorities identified as Shabani's boyfriend, was 'somehow involved in her death'.

"Something happened, and I believe it to be somewhat untoward - that there was foul play involved", Capt. William Hayes of the Los Angeles Police Department told a press conference.

Adea Shabani, 25, who is originally from Macedonia, was last seen leaving her Hollywood home on February 23 with her boyfriend Chris Spotz.

Discrepancies in Spotz's alibi raised warning bells but he disappeared before police could track him down for further questioning.

Spotz, however, fatally shot himself last Thursday off the 91 Freeway in Riverside County after a lengthy police chase.

However, investigators believe it is that of the 25-year-old model who had moved to Hollywood from Macedonia and was last seen on February 23 near the 1700 block of Wilcox Avenue, between Hollywood Boulevard and Franklin Avenue.

Shabani was apparently last spotted in the Tacoma, LAPD spokeswoman Rosario Herrera told the Times.

Shabani's family previously offered a $25,000 reward for any information leading to her location.

During the investigation into her disappearance, PC Hayes said Spotz and his fiancee drove from Los Angeles to her parents' home in Fort Morgan, Colorado, just outside of Denver. He was identified as Christopher Spotz, 33, who has been romantically linked to Shabani. The case has been deemed a homicide, but the cause of death will not be determined until toxicology and tissue analysis are completed, authorities said. Their argument ended with Spotz dropping her off when they were driving through Santa Clarita.

The source said the two were romantically linked, although a friend of Spotz who spoke with KTLA Monday night said he was unaware of a romantic relationship between them.

LAPD only confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the search was related to Shabani's disappearance. Police say they believe a body found in a shallow Northern California grave may be Shabani.
