North Korea reportedly agrees to hold summit preparation talks in March

The flag of North Korea is seen in Geneva Switzerland

It will be the first time a sitting USA president has met with a member of North Korea's ruling Kim family.

Among the six North Korean delegates was senior diplomat Choe Kang Il, who handles North American affairs for his government, while the US delegation is believed to have included Kathleen Stephens, the former USA ambassador to South Korea.

South Korea said Saturday that North Korea has accepted its proposal to hold high-level inter-Korean talks next week.

North Korea has officially acknowledged a change in relations with the US, but rejected any notion that President Donald Trump's sanctions and worldwide pressure played a role in advancing diplomatic talks.

The lack of North Korean confirmation that Kim was willing to meet Trump to talk about denuclearization has only exacerbated those doubts. In fact, his decision was guided by many factors. -North Korean summit, which would be a first, high on the agenda as well. There is an increasing view in North Korea that Trump could launch military attacks on North Korea.

"Such an event as today could be possible as the DPRK's dignity has remarkably risen and it has strong might", the commentary read, referring to the country by its official name Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The team of government officials and experts arrived in Pyongyang via Beijing on Thursday for a three-day stay to check two venues for an art group's performances slated for March 31 to April 3.

South Korea has some of the longest working hours in the world.

Despite a flurry of diplomatic efforts, the date and location of the latter summit - which would be the first evern between a sitting Americans president and a North Korean leader - remains undecided. Subsequently, Kim also invited Moon to North Korea for a talk.

North Korea broke its silence March 21, 2018, on its surprise peace overtures, including a tentative summit between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, while denying that US pressure led to the breakthrough.

Chung also said that Kim had agreed to halt nuclear and missile tests leading up to the talks with Trump. The one-to-one talk will also help the United States to reduce its dependability on China on this issue, which itself can prove to be a big success for the Trump administration.
