SSC Paper Scam: Commission Chairman suggests CBI inquiry in paper leak

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari meets agitating SSC candidates assures them help

After days of protests by candidates of Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exam, the Supreme Court today said it will hear the plea seeking investigation into the alleged SSC exam scam on March 12.

On the same day for two centres in Patna, the official statement said that, 'candidates chose not to give the Paper-I examination'.

"I request those still sitting in protest to go home".

The SSC Chairman Ashim Khurana met a delegation of protesters on Sunday accompanied by Tiwari and assured them of a repeat exam and a strict CBI probe.

The aspirants have been protesting outside SSC's office at CGO complex here and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station is the closest to the office. Later, it also cancelled the exam held in the morning shift on February 21 as screenshots of the question paper found circulating on social networking sites.

Pointing out that almost one crore students try their luck in the SSC exams, he said such the irregularities are going on since 2016, but the youths have taken up the issue since early this week to put an end to systematic leak of the papers to benefit the selected few. Citing "technical reasons", the SSC made the announcement on February 24 and scheduled the re-examination for March 9. They demanded a CBI enquiry into the allegations of leak of questions of the Combined Graduate Level (Tier-II) Examination 2017 held from 17 to 22 February. "We are not going to call off the protest until a proper format is released, we will see if our demands are being met or not", Piyush, one of the protesting SSC candidate told ANI. The job aspirants were raising their voice for the CBI inquiry against the scam.

"We demand that this scam, which is at the same scale as Vyapam, perhaps even bigger that it, should be probed by the CBI", said Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala in a statement while extending complete support to the agitating students. This matter requires immediate action to prevent such an incident in the upcoming DU Entrance Exams, ' reads the twitter handle.
