After losing J.D. Martinez to the Boston Red Sox, Arizona signed speedster Jarrod Dyson. The Diamondbacks will also receive prospect Taylor Widener from the Yankees, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post. He'll battle up-and-comers Miguel Andujar and Gleybor Torres for playing playing at third and second base.

The Yankees acquired second baseman Brandon Drury in a three-way trade Tuesday, adding a veteran presence to an otherwise mostly inexperienced infield.

Gleyber Torres, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery to fix a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left (non-throwing) elbow, will get a shot to start at third base in spring training, while Miguel Andujar could open the year as the starting second baseman. Drury made his MLB debut in 2015 and has blasted 31 homers and driven in 124 runs while slashing.271/.319/.448 in 289 career games in the big leagues.

The versatile Drury has started 269 games for Arizona at six different positions over the last two seasons, with the majority of those in 2017 coming at second base.

Souza is the latest starter to be traded away by the Rays, who are in rebuilding mode.

Drury could start at either spot, spending most of his time at second baseman past year with the Diamondbacks.

Souza was traded to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday as part of a three-team deal, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

With both Dickerson and Souza leaving Tampa in the last week, the Rays are a little light in the outfield. "I think we have a good group in here".

Currently, Baseball America ranks him as the 10th best left-handed prospect in the game. Widener was ranked as the Yankees' No. 22 prospect.

To make room on their 40-man roster for Drury, the Yankees designated outfielder Jabari Blash for assignment.
