National Weather Service reminds residents of impacts of freezing rain

The winter weather advisory will last until 6 p.m., with areas further south around Kansas City under an ice storm warning.

Kansas City Aviation Department crews were out Tuesday morning treating the runways with specialized deicing chemicals at the airport, according to Joe McBride with the aviation department.

However, persistent rain is expected from Monday morning into Tuesday afternoon across all of southern Wisconsin, and general flooding chances will increase as more water accumulates into Tuesday, the Weather Service warned. Some thunder is also possible.

Strong to Severe Thunderstorms: Isolated storms may produce up to 1 inch hail and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. Highs by Wednesday will be in the 30s where the wintry mix may change to rain in the afternoon IF precipitation lingers. Little or no ice accumulation expected. North wind 10 to 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 20 miles per hour.

Tomorrow mostly cloudy with highs slightly warmer in the 30s with northeast wind 5-15 miles per hour. Wind: N/NE 10-20; gusty. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. Cloudy, with a low around 20. North northeast wind 6 to 8 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
