NBA Predictions: Will Lakers pull off small underdog vs. Thunder? 2/8/19

Carmelo Anthony's night cut short due to sprained right ankle

Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony each missed Thursday night's game against the Lakers at STAPLES Center, and the Thunder were no match for the spry Lakers.

The Lakers were also short-handed, after a trade with Cleveland sent Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance, Jr.to the Cavaliers, that will eventually bring Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye, plus the Cavs first round pick in 2018 to the Lakers.

The Oklahoma City Thunder power forward initially remained in the game and was said to be available to return after going to the locker room to get his ankle re-taped.

"I don't know if whether I'm going to LA, or what I'm going to do this offseason", George adds.

The five-time All-Star admitted that he is indeed happy to be in Oklahoma City as part of the Thunder.

Anthony has averaged 28.8 FanDuel points per game this season.

Oklahoma City had been starting rookie Terrance Ferguson at shooting guard since Andre Roberson went down with a season-ending knee injury on January 27, but coach Billy Donovan started small forward Josh Huestis in place of Ferguson on Tuesday because of the length of Golden State's wings. "We just didn't make enough shots at the end of the day to make it competitive". The starters, including George (29 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists) and Steven Adams (13 points, 9 rebounds) along with Josh Huestis, Patrick Patterson and Felton helped pull the Thunder back within six at halftime, but the Lakers ran away in the third quarter.

George scored 22 first-half points but the Thunder trailed 52-46 at the break. Though Lonzo Ball has missed the last 11 games with a knee injury, as Los Angeles has gone 7-4 SU and ATS.

"I don't think we need any more fines", Kuzma said with a laugh, referencing the $50,000 tampering fine the Lakers received for Magic Johnson's praise of Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. Their fans made it clear who they would like to see join the team, giving George a loud ovation when he was introduced.

The Thunder will play next on Sunday at Chesapeake Energy Arena against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Lakers: Open a three-game trip at the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
