2-year-old girl dies after she's found outside in freezing weather

She's Frozen: Mother Screamed As She Found 2-Year-Old On Front Porch

- Authorities in OH are trying to figure out how a 2-year-old girl died after she was found unresponsive in frigid weather Friday laying on the front porch of an apartment building.

According to Kron 4, a neighbour said the mother usually kept to herself and that she also had a boy.

While hospital officials refuse to discuss the specifics of Wynter's death, they offered winter-safety tips for parents. The girl was taken to Akron Children's Hospital where she died.

"The two-year-old wandered outside the house and was found by the mother when she returned home".

Temperatures in Akron on Friday ranged between 12 and 19 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

A report via The Akron Beacon Journal told of Wynter's mother leaving for a few hours Friday afternoon with the family's four year old son only to return and find her daughter unresponsive on the family's apartment's front porch.

Police told of no charges being filed, with the investigation continuing.

Her mother had left her at home while she ran errands but the father, who works nights, fell asleep in the day, Fox News reported.

Neighbors say they would occasionally hear people arguing outside of the apartment.

Results from an autopsy are expected soon - the medical examiner's office however said she suffered from severe hypothermia. 'That happens much quicker for our little ones'. Police in OH are investigating the death of a toddler found "frozen" on her front porch.

When authorities knocked on her door, Lucas says she recalls being anxious before bursting into tears.

"It was freezing and that was my biggest worry when the cops came, when they started asking about the kids, they didn't divulge what was really going on, but when he asked about the kids, obviously something was going on and I was anxious", Lucas said.
