Flash standalone film taps directors

Warner Bros. Taps Spider-Man Homecoming Scribes To Helm Flashpoint

Given their movie history and Ezra Miller's portrayal of The Flash in Justice League, Flashpoint will likely have a comedic tone. We wonder if the movie will be comedy since Daley and Goldstein are known for directing comedy films such as Vacation and the upcoming Game Night, which will star Jason Bateman.

Daley and Goldstein already have experience in the comic book genre after writing the script for Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming. The reality-altering nature of the Flashpoint storyline would allow WB/DC to soft reboot its shared movie universe, and in the process recast the role of Batman. Could Flashpoint do the same for DC cinematic universe after the stumbles of four out of five divisive movies that failed to meet expectations at the box office?

Actor Ben Affleck attends the premiere of Warner Bros. However, it seems like DC plans to move ahead with their plan of getting the film onto the theaters in spite of the lukewarm response their recent film Justice League received.

The project has been in a state of constant flux since Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who wrote a story treatment, turned down the opportunity to direct. Seth Grahame-Smith was brought on board, but later dropped out due to creative differences. Based on previous reports indicating that Affleck will play Batman for the last time in Flashpoint, that might explain why WB/DC approached him about possibly directing the film himself, in addition to costarring in it.

Do you think that Daley and Goldstein are a good fit as directors for Flashpoint?

It was announced back at San Diego Comic-Con a year ago that the movie would be based on the Flashpoint comic book story.

Flashpoint will see Ezra Miller fill the shoes of Barry Allen, the Flash, as he travels back in time to save his mother from being murdered.
