According to the a href="https://www.cdc.gov/measles/cases-outbreaks.html" U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention /a , there were around 120 cases of measles in 2017. If they were infected, symptoms could develop as late as the end of the month.

"Getting vaccinated not only protects you, it protects others around you who are too young to get the vaccine or can't receive it for medical reasons". All in all, for every 1,000 children who are exposed to the virus, one or two will die from measles. If you develop symptoms of measles, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) recommends you call a health care provider before going to a medical office or emergency department.

Measles can cause a fever, red itchy eyes and a rash.

If you have the MMR vaccine, you should be protected. Although a majority of the public get routine shots in their childhood, the department is most concerned about those who have not been vaccinated as they are at high risk of infection.
