Bon Jovi Among 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2018 Inductees

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces Bon Jovi, The Cars, more as 2018 inductees

The Hall of Fame, which is based in Cleveland, Ohio, announced the 2018 roster of inductees Wednesday: Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues and Nina Simone.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will also be honoring Sister Rosetta Tharpe with its Award for Early Influence.

Radiohead were the only act eligible for the first time on this year's ballot but unfortunately did not make it in.

The likes of Radiohead, Kate Bush, Rage Against The Machine, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, MC5, LL Cool J and Judas Priest were overlooked by the Hall of Fame this year.

"Hey everybody, just wanted to say hi, wish you all a happy holiday and, oh yeah, by the way, thank you", Jon said in a video message posted on Instagram, as Bon Jovi's 1986 hit "Wanted Dead or Alive" is played in the background.

Then again, the very definition of rock and roll has been debated following the controversies over some of the artists inducted.

That may also explain why so many repeat nominees who made the ballot this year failed to gain enough votes this time around.

Klipsch Audio, a leading global speaker and headphone manufacturer, is a strategic partner and presenting sponsor of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, its Induction Ceremony events and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Main Stage. An edited version will be broadcast on HBO and SiriusXM radio in spring 2018. When questioned by Rolling Stone about the possibility of a reunion with former members guitarist Richie Sambora and original bassist Alec John Such, drummer Tico Torres stated, "They are a huge part of us".

In addition Dire Straits, The Cars, and The Moody Blues will also be recognized.

To be considered for induction, artists or bands must have had a first commercial recording at least 25 years before being honored.

That means Bon Jovi became eligible in 2008.
