Huckabee Sanders Vindicated: Bloomberg and WSJ Walk Back Deutsche Bank Subpoena Story

Deutsche Bank turns over Trump documents after Mueller subpoena: Report

Bloomberg's Politics division reported early Tuesday that Robert Mueller, the special counsel for the Justice Department, had issued a subpoena to Deutsche Bank that had "zeroed in" on the financial records of the Trump family.

It was reported earlier that as part of his probe into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign, Mr Mueller asked Deutsche Bank to share data on accounts held by Mr Trump and his family.

Mueller is investigating Russian attempts to influence the 2016 US presidential election and possible collusion by Trump associates. Then there was the day he spent driving around with Aras Agalarov - the Russian oligarch who connected Donald Trump Jr. with a Russian lawyer promising dirt on Hillary Clinton.

"We confirmed that the news reports that the special counsel had subpoenaed financial records related to the president are completely false", Sanders said during the White House's daily press conference.

Congressional Democrats had been calling on the bank to provide more information on Trump's $300 million in debt, but they were rebuffed-as Deutsche Bank said that sharing client data would be illegal unless they received a formal request to do so.

One month before we elected Donald Trump as our 45th president, Jared Kushner secured a $285 million loan from Deutsche Bank.

Regulators were analyzing whether the Trump Organization exposed the bank to risk due to bankruptcies in casino and hotel businesses, CBS reported. The bank agreed to submit documents "on its relationship with [President] Trump and his family", which go back nearly 20 years, according to an anonymous source.

Instead of targeting Trump or his family's records, the subpoenas were aimed at records that pertain to people or organizations affiliated with the president, according to the corrected stories.

Well, now they reportedly did (and executives at Deutsche Bank had previously said they expected this).

According to Bloomberg, he owes the bank about $300 million. Allegedly the bank helped finance the renovation of the Old Post Office in Washington, the purchase of the Doral golf course in Florida and the construction of an office building in Chicago.

Trump and Deutsche Bank have not always been on good terms.

In a July 9 interview with the New York Times, Trump said Mueller should not extend his investigation into Trump's finances if they were not directly related to the Russian Federation accusations. Two other Trump figures, former campaign chair Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, have been arrested on money laundering charges. In fact, Trump went on, because of the bank's role in creating this "once-in-a-century credit tsunami", Deutsche Bank owed him money, to the tune of $3 billion in damages.
