Apple's Newest iPhone Update Finally Fixes That Annoying Autocorrect Bug

iOS 11.1.1 update now available, includes 'i' autocorrect fix

Still, as users in the Reddit thread note, and as this blogger can anecdotally attest, using an iPhone outside in the winter usually isn't a problem.

Apple has since confirmed the reports and the speculation that a software bug is responsible.

Replying to the query regarding the issue, Apple informed the tech blog The Loop that the company is "aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment". At this point, the screen does not work reliably in terms of registering touch-based inputs. Luckily, there seems to be a workaround, where locking and immediately unlocking the handset seems to restore functionality of the screen.

A little more than a week after releasing iOS 11.1, Apple has followed it up with another software update.

The problem was highlighted last week when people trying to tweet messages such as "I got a new iPhone" found their posts were appearing as "A [?] got a new iPhone".

One user noted that it was about 45 degrees F when they experienced the problem.

If you want to update to iOS 11.1.1 just pop into Settings General Software Update. "After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again. I try swiping on websites and it doesn't register my finger", wrote Reddit user Darus214, adding later that the outside temperature was 50 degrees Fahrenheit when his handset became unresponsive.

"Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures". If the bug has been affecting you, go grab iOS 11.1.1 to rid yourself of the issue.

Dailymail.com has contacted Apple for comment on the issue.
