Sylvester Stallone to Direct and Produce

Sylvester Stallone Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler in Creed

Known for playing cinema's most famous boxer, Sylvester Stallone announced yesterday that he would direct the next spin-off from the Rocky saga.

Released in 2015, Creed focused not on Rocky but on the son of another boxing champion, Apollo Creed, who went from nemesis to manager and friend over the course of four films. Stallone will take over Ryan Coogler as the film's director with Michael B. Jordan reprising his role as the titular character. Michael B. Jordan is a bona fide star, and we know the two have chemistry from the first Creed. At that time Stallone posted a series vintage shots of Lundgren from the set of Rocky IV, each one tagged with 'CREED 2.' Lundgren himself largely confirmed this news when he posted a training video, with the caption, "Getting ready for something big!" However, nobody could have foreseen Stallone himself directing the sequel, especially with how good a job Coogler did with the first film. He also won the Golden Globe Award in the same category.
