BSF camp attacked by JeM in Srinagar- Pak terror groups still unstoppable?

Kashmir: Suicide attackers hit Indian army camp in Srinagar

The Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Tuesday that the militants who attacked a BSF camp here belonged to the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terrorist outfit and said such attack will continue "as long as Pakistan is our neighbour".

Terrorists today launched a suicide attack on a BSF camp near the Srinagar International Airport, killing an Assistant Sub Inspector of the BSF and leaving four security personnel injured.

The terrorists, according to BSF officials are holed up inside the building campus of the 182nd Battalion camp.

Khan said the militants, who entered the camp around 4.05am after cutting through the concertina wires and fence, entered two separate buildings - the administrative block and Subordinate Officers Mess. They also asked the media to be responsible and reasonable while reporting on such an attack, citing how it was being called a "setback" and "security lapse" and also how some media channels called it "an attack on the airport", which was serious.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Munir Ahmed Khan told reporters during a presser that "This operation was a quality example of cooperation between the forces". The flight operations were restored in the afternoon.

This battalion is entrusted with the security of the runway of the Srinagar Airport.

Last week, Pakistan said three civilians were killed on their side of the de facto border in Kashmir after Indian soldiers opened fire. Forces gunned down three militants as well.

Kashmir Valley School, which is in vicinity of the targeted, will remain closed for security reasons.

Flights to and from Srinagar International Airport were initially suspended after the attack, but were resumed later on Tuesday.

Reinforcements of counterinsurgency police and paramilitary commandos rushed to the scene and armored vehicles dotted the entire road leading to the airport.

He said that: "JeM is a threat because the cadres believe in such kind of activities, like attacking the camps".

"I have spoken to the DG, CRPF, and DG, BSF".
