Blow for Chelsea as Alvaro Morata injury worse than first feared

Kevin De Bruyne Chelsea Manchester City 30092017

I don't think it's a serious problem because he stopped before it will become a serious injury.

Morata was forced off after 35 minutes during Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Chelsea will be without Alvaro Morata for up to six weeks, after his hamstring injury was discovered to be even worse than first feared.

Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata has withdrawn from Spain's squad for the World Cup Qualifiers against Albania and Israel with a hamstring injury.

Spain's medical team revealed on Monday that they had found a grade two hamstring tear and that Morata could be out for over a month.

Morata's injury is a blow but with the worldwide break scheduled, it has come at the best possible time for Chelsea.

Morata hobbled off during the loss to Manchester City over the weekend and will play no part in Spain's worldwide fixtures in the next two weeks.

Chelsea travel to Crystal Palace after the global break, which Morata appears likely to miss, and also face Roma twice in the Champions League during October.

Tellingly, Conte opted to replace Morata with Willian against City which only increased theories that he does not trust Michy Batshuayi in big games.

However, Morata has got off to a flying start at Stamford Bridge and has six goals in the Premier League from just six games to his name so far.

One man who has perhaps been more important than anyone for Chelsea this season is Alvaro Morata.
