Killer Clown Cold Case: Lover Of Murder Victim's Husband Arrested

It wasn't known if Sheila Keen Warren has an attorney.

On Tuesday, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that Sheila Keen Warren had been arrested in Washington County, Virginia, for allegedly dressing up in a clown costume, walking up to the front door of her future husband Michael Warren's then-wife, Marlene Warren, and shooting her in the face.

A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office news release says 54-year-old Sheila Keen Warren was arrested Tuesday in Virginia.

A clown bearing gifts of flowers and two balloons - one with the saying "You're the greatest!" - shot a woman as she accepted the bouquet in front of her Wellington home on Saturday. The suspected killer carried two balloons and was dressed in a clown costume with an orange wig, authorities said.

Sheila Keen had been identified as a suspect during the initial police investigation, however was never arrested.

In 2014, the cold case unit of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office re-opened the investigation, re-contacting witnesses and conducting fresh DNA analysis.

Sheila Keen Warren married Michael Warren in 2002 and they had been running a restaurant together in Tennessee.

Authorities presented their case to a grand jury on August 31, successfully obtaining an indictment for first-degree murder against Keen.

Police have not said whether Michael is involved in his former wife's death.

They say Ms Warren has always been a suspect in the killing, but there has not been enough evidence.

'We're more than glad to be able to help to bring this to a successful conclusion'. Before her death, Marlene, told her family that she wanted to leave Michael, but was afraid that he would kill her.

Officials said that Sheila Warren will be arraigned Wednesday in Washington County General District Court and she is being held pending extradition to Florida at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail. The clown parked a white Chrysler convertible in Marlene Warren's driveway at 14570 Takeoff Place in Wellington. Marlene died days later at a local hospital.

But no blood, fingerprints or a gun were ever recovered.

The probe did lead to legal trouble for Michael Warren. The balloons were bought an hour before the shooting and the salesperson described the woman, who bought the balloons, as having long brown hair like the accused.

When the vehicle was eventually found abandoned after the killing, police discovered orange wig fibers inside of it, as well as long brown hairs similar to Keen's.

The pair carried on a romantic affair up until two weeks before the murder and Warren's now-husband was paying her rent for months prior.
