7-month-old boy found dead in hot car

According to Phoenix Fire Department, the child was in the vehicle for about two hours before he was found by his mother.

Two infants have died in Phoenix on consecutive days after being left in hot vehicles for hours.

She said, she had come to the church to support the family and mentioned hearing about the other baby that had died similarly on Friday.

It was about 101 degrees outside.

Phoenix Police will conduct an investigation, but initial indications are that this was accidental.

"You feel like it's something that could happen to anybody", she said.

The incident happened a day after a 7-month-old boy was found in a hot auto near 44th Street and Greenway Road in north Phoenix. He was identified by police as Zane Endress.

The boy was pronounced dead a short time later.

The child's father has not been arrested.

Arizona has one of the nation's worst rates of children dying in hot cars at, 18.1 per 1 million people, according to the organization's database.

Temperatures in Phoenix reached a high of 103 degrees at 4.33pm on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Since that time, the highest number of deaths per year was in 2010, with 49 deaths.

"There may be no act of human failing that more fundamentally challenges our society's views about crime, punishment, justice and mercy".

Fortune said that as the season with the most child hyperthermia deaths continues, parents should take more time to make sure their children are safe.

The father apparently had forgotten the boy was in the vehicle, authorities said.
