Banaskantha, which borders Rajasthan, was the worst affected district in Gujarat, with rescue personnel moving 10,300 people to safety.

It is reported 20 Gujarat state highways are submerged, while train services between the state capital Ahmedabad and New Delhi have been suspended after tracks flooded. While Dholidhaja, Vansal and Nimbam dams in Surendranagar, Machchhu-1 and Ghodadharoi in Morbi and Kankawati dam in Jamnagar districts have received up to 90 per cent of their water storage capacity. Two Air India flights have been diverted to Mumbai.

More than 25,000 people were evacuated as of Monday night after a bitter spell of incessant rainfall battered many districts across Gujarat.

Other districts such as Rajkot, Surat, and Ahmedabad have also witnessed record rain of 67mm, 29mm, and 18.6mm respectively.
