Killer buried four missing Pennsylvania men on family's farm

On Friday afternoon, Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub discussed the arrests of 20-year-old Cosmo Dinardo - who was arrested earlier this week - and a man Dinardo described to police as his "cousin", Sean Kratz, 20, of Northeast Philadelphia.

Authorities might never have found the fourth body unless they worked with DiNardo, Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub said.

The charges relate to the killings of Jimi Patrick, 19; Thomas Meo, 21; Mark Sturgis, 22; and Dean Finocchiaro, 19, who went missing within miles of each other in Bucks County.

Cosmo DiNardo killed the men after luring them in with offers to sell them marijuana, authorities said.

DiNardo was being held on $5 million cash bail before his confession, accused of stealing and attempting to sell a auto belonging to Thomas Meo to a friend for $500. The affidavit alleges DiNardo confessed he then ran over Meo with the backhoe before using it to lift both bodies into a metal oil tank, where he had already placed Finocchiaro's corpse. Dinardo took his cousin Kratz with him took Finocchiaro to the same area and killed him.

As police led the handcuffed suspect to a van Thursday evening, DiNardo said "I'm sorry" when asked by reporters whether he had sympathy for the victims' families.

DiNardo told the investigators he had arranged a marijuana deal with Finocchiaro on July 7.

Finocchiaro, Meo and Sturgis all knew each other, the AP reported, and news outlets have reported that cars belonging to two of the men have been located.

Police say the Loyola University Maryland student didn't show up for work as a beer runner at a restaurant-bar in nearby Doylestown, CNN affiliate WPVI-TV said.

An attorney for DiNardo's parents said they sympathized with the families of the men and were cooperating in the investigation.

The girlfriend of Moe said investigators had exchanged text messages with his companion up to about 19 hours, and then nothing more, which would be "out of the ordinary and unusual", she says.

The person with firsthand knowledge of DiNardo's confession said the men were killed after DiNardo felt cheated or threatened during three drug transactions.

"I don't understand the science behind it, but those dogs could smell these poor boys 12° feet below the ground", Weintraub said.

It was the discovery of Meo's auto on a DiNardo family property a half-mile from the farm that led to DiNardo's re-arrest. They said the keys and a title were hanging up in a garage. Weintraub has said authorities have found evidence in two different locations, but he did not specify where.

Dinardo, whose parents own the Solebury Township farm being searched, was already in custody after being accused of stealing and trying to sell a vehicle belonging to one of the missing men. They have a construction company and cement.

In requesting his $5 million cash bail, prosecutors revealed DiNardo is a diagnosed schizophrenic who sustained frontal lobe damage in an ATV accident within the past year. He allegedly possessed a 20-gauge shotgun, but was not legally allowed to possess the firearm because he had a mental illness and had been involuntarily committed to a mental institution for inpatient care, according to court documents. One stems from a December 2016 incident that resulted in the filing of burglary, criminal trespassing, theft, receiving stolen property, and other charges. Both were being held in jail without bail.
